NH Banking Commissioner Peter Hildreth To Speak at Meet the Commissioners Series.
October 2007 - Concord, NH:
PROGRAM CONTACT: Kevin O'Shea, Sulloway & Hollis, 603-224-2341.
NH Banking Commissioner Peter Hildreth will be speaking on non-traditional
and sub-prime mortgages as well as so-called “pay-day” lending practices as part of a series of
business leaders’ forums co-sponsored by Sulloway & Hollis, P.L.L.C., and the NH Business
and Industry Association.
Commissioner Hildreth will make brief remarks and answer questions at the Meet the
Commissioners program to be held on Tuesday, October 30th from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. at the
Sulloway & Hollis law offices, located at 29 School Street in Concord.
Commissioner Hildreth will be speaking on the role of the banking department in New
Hampshire. The NH Banking Department is responsible for the general supervision of all New
Hampshire chartered financial institutions including banks and credit unions. The Department
is also charged with the licensing and supervision of non-bank mortgage lenders and servicers,
sales finance companies, payday lenders and debt adjusters.
Douglas Chamberlain, chair of the Business Group at the Sulloway & Hollis law firm,
who helped organize the Meet the Commissioners series, noted, “a reexamination of nontraditional
and sub-prime mortgages was inevitable given the changes in New Hampshire’s real
estate market.” Chamberlain added, “the Meet the Commissioners series allows the business
community to interact with high-level decision makers who are spearheading reforms.”
Future Meet the Commissioners programs will feature Michael DeLucia, from the
Charitable Trust Unit of the New Hampshire Department of Justice (November 27) and George
Bald, Commissioner of the Department of Resources & Economic Development (December
18). Additional speakers for 2008 will be announced soon.
The program is open to the public without charge, however, seating is limited. To
RSVP, please contact rsvp@sulloway.com or 603 223-2896.
