Margaret H. Nelson
Margaret H. Nelson practices commercial and administrative litigation, focusing on property tax abatements and exemptions, state tax issues, insurance coverage, professional liability defense and public utility matters at Sulloway & Hollis. She has successfully represented property tax owners in some of the largest tax appeals in New Hampshire. She also has considerable appellate experience before the New Hampshire Supreme Court and the First Circuit Court of Appeals.
Ms. Nelson currently serves as the firm’s Managing Director.

- Handled tax abatement proceedings for a pulp and paper facility which established standards for the non-taxability of factory machinery and equipment
- Successfully handled tax abatement litigation and Supreme Court appeal, which established that the interest of members' ownership in a non-profit corporation which held real estate could not be assessed
- Represented Joint Owners of Seabrook Station in tax abatement litigation which produced tax abatements in excess of $20 million and subsequently negotiated several multi-year assessment agreements with host communities
- Served as tax abatement counsel to BancOne Asset Management which was retained by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation to deal with real estate acquired by failed banking institutions in New Hampshire, successfully resolving numerous tax appeals involving a wide range of property, including resorts, commercial office space, industrial facilities and condominiums
