James O. Barney concentrates his practice on real estate acquisition, development and financing, including purchase and sale transactions, loan transactions, condominium development and registration, subdivision development and registration, and title insurance.
Mr. Barney provided major assistance to the New Hampshire Legislature and Secretary of State during the nationwide reforming of Article 9 of the Uniform Commercial Code. He is a past Chair of the Section of Real Property Law of the New Hampshire Bar Association, and has also served on the Title Standards and Legislation Committees of that Section.
Mr. Barney graduated from Princeton University in 1966, and served three years as an officer in the Navy. He received an M.A.T. degree from Harvard University in 1971, and a J.D. from Boalt Hall School of Law in 1975. After practicing law for eight years in California, Mr. Barney joined the Firm in 1983. He is listed in The Best Lawyers in America in the specialty of Real Estate Law.
