Jay Surdukowski’s diverse practice serves both litigation and business clients of Sulloway & Hollis. Mr. Surdukowski defends hospitals, physicians, and other healthcare providers, including long-term care facilities. He also litigates wrongful death, bodily injury, and premises liability cases, surety bond disputes, and general litigation matters ranging from commercial litigation to insurance defense.

A New Hampshire native active in politics and community affairs, Mr. Surdukowski also practices political and campaign finance law and served as campaign counsel to Democratic Governor Maggie Hassan in 2014 and Democratic gubernatorial nominee Colin Van Ostern in 2016.

Prior to joining Sulloway & Hollis, Mr. Surdukowski clerked for former Chief Justice Linda Stewart Dalianis of the New Hampshire Supreme Court and provided back-up support to current Senior Associate Justice Gary E. Hicks.  His career has also included two successive fellowships at the Office of the Prosecutor for the International Criminal Tribunal for Yugoslavia in the Hague where he assisted as a law student with the war crimes trials of Slobodan Milosevic, Jovica Stanisic, and Naser Oric.

Before law school, Mr. Surdukowski was a Truman Fellow at the United States Department of Health and Human Services where he worked for Republican Secretary Tommy Thompson on rural and Native American issues.

  • Representation through a successful dispositive motion of a major staffing company that once employed a drug-diverting medical technician who infected approximately 50 patients in New Hampshire and beyond with the Hepatitis-C virus
  • Trial to defense verdict in case where an anesthesiologist and nurse anesthetist were accused of a cover up to hide evidence of a complication
  • Representation of a New Hampshire Governor’s re-election campaign against serial campaign finance allegations and general representation of the Governor’s political committee and inaugural committee
  • Trial to defense verdict in a wrongful death case involving non-emergent transfer to hospital
  • Trial to defense verdict in a case alleging failure by an OB/GYN surgeon to diagnose ureteral injury for seven months
