Eric Passeggio Appointed to the DRI Center for Law & Public Policy – Social Inflation Task Force
Sulloway Member Eric R. Passeggio was recently appointed to the DRI Center for Law & Public Policy – Social Inflation Task Force. This task force is responsible for studying factors influencing the rise in the size of jury verdicts above expected levels tied to Inflation and for recommending steps to limit that rise.
Social Inflation is the term used to describe a trend of dramatic increases in costs and verdicts associated with civil litigation that outpaces general economic Inflation without significant change in legal or factual bases to support it. Social Inflation’s causes are complex. Its damaging consequences are palpable for businesses, consumers, and the rule of law.
Founded in 2012, the DRI Center for Law and Public Policy provides the most influential voice for the defense bar in the discussion of substantive law, judicial processes, constitutional issues, and the integrity of the civil justice system at both the national and state levels.
